to scrap or not??

i recently got a 240d 82 for free. It was sitting in a parking lot for three years.
I finally got her to start yesterday, i was driving it today when the hood flew up and smashed the windshield!!!! It won't shift out of second, don't know if it needs a new trans, or just adjusting, ill try to post some pictures.... what do you guys think? seems like i could buy one in better condition than what i would spend fixing it? don't know

well

you prob can find a used hood for 75 to 100. if it isnt an odd color you prob can find one in the correct color too. the tranny could be something simple or not. if it runs good and looks ok then it may be a good starting point. oh yeah, the windshield is about 250 installed for a new one. probably was pitted anyway so no big loss. better check the latch too when you put the new hood on.
