190D Transmission Problem
On my1986 190D with a 2.5 and auto trans it will not shift oit of first gear any Ideas?

Check the kickdown switch. Its under the accelerator pedal on the floor, a cable plugs into it, unplug it, then go drive, if it was the switch it will then drive normally (minus the kickdown feature of course), and all you have to do is replace that switch....

Trans goes in first but won't shift to 2nd? Check the fluid level. Temporarily disconnect vacuum to modulator.
The trans I think you have (722.4) shifts to 2nd by applying the B1 brake band, which is applied only in 2nd.
