Different trannies on a 300D turbo???

Both trannies are supposed to be from a 300D turbo, the one w/o othe detachable bellhousing was connected to the '79, so i know its "right"...but the other one, is a mercedes tranny, but wtf??? any info would be greatly appreciated http://www.geocities.com/r_swaynie/300D_Trannies.html

did you ask

the salvage yard guy to check his interchange book? it wil tell.

otherwise i would look at the tranny and see if all the interface points between the car and tranny are the same. if they are i would probably put it in. is it from same year?

The "other" one is from a later model 123. I do not know the exact date that the change was made but it is referred to as a six bolt pan tranny versus the earlier 4 bolt pan.
