Boost Guage

I am planning to convert the boost control in my 93 300D 2.5L from computer to manual.

Dawes seems to have a good basic boost controller for $25.

Does anyone know where I can get a boost guage ? Do I need to spend $175.00 for a boost guage ?

VDO Vision and Cockpit are a decent match for the factory gauges and run about $30. Make sure you buy a boost gauge for a diesel, not a vac/boost gauge.

If he's talking about the same kind I had, its because the gauge reads to 30 of whatever the unit is in vac but only to ten on boost. This is the gauge I had lying around so I bought one at a local parts house for about twenty bucks.

I think I got mine from JCWhitney. It has both vac/boost and it lights up. I think it was like $20.

I have an "AutoMeter" (made in USA) vac/boost gauge, it reads to up to 30psi boost and like 25 vac, Mine tops out at 11ish psi under full throttle though..... which is good. I should take a pic of my gauge cluster I made....it doesn't look the greatest but it certainly gets the job done, it has a 12V outlet too! So I still have a plug even w/out the ashtray.

Making one of those is on my list of things to do. My dad is a sheet metal worker so he can get me virtually whatever I need and fabricate it as well. I want to add a pyrometer along with my boost gauge. A better 12V outlet would be nice as well.

I believe every car should have a voltmeter.......

That's a nice solution. Are you happy with the viewing angle?

Thats almost what my cluster looks like, except volts are on far left, 12V outlet in center, and boost gauge on the right, I have the same size/appearance AutoMeter gauges though! I think they look very good, especially in the dark, they light up like the dash does instead of like modern dash's.

Yes...angle is perfect , its lower than I would like but its the only convienient location on the car.....I'm a non-smoker so don't miss the ashtray ever. In park the shifter blocks the guages a bit but in drive there is no obstruction to view.
