It's Snowing!!!

The new homepage is just too cool!!! Being down here in southern Georgia, that is probably the only snow I'm going to see.

This website and the members are righteous!

Oh, that's got to be the funniest thing that anyone could possibly hope for.

Watching a bunch of good 'ol GA boys with their pickup trucks driving 85 mph down the interstate in snow.

The rule is, if you go outside and the snow comes up to the first joint of you finger, close the state!!!

Atlanta's I 285 perimeter is not a pretty sight in the rain, in the snow, it's a wasteland!

Funny story. One of the guys that used to keep his boat at the marine moved to SC about a year ago. He and his wife are originaly from Maine so unless their is 2ft of snow on the ground it doesn't really bother them. I was just talking to him and he doesn't understand why people get all bent out of shape because of a little snow.

When I was growing up in Rural SW PA a foot of fresh snow didn't even merit a 1 hour delay , Ice would rate a delay...and 2 feet up of fresh white stuff would merit a closing.

Hell they close here before the first flakes fall.

Everyone around here thinks it's OK to drive 80 in the snow because they have a big a$$ SUV, but they seem to be afraid to drive in the rain. Strange.

I don't know. I haven't had a snow day in Northern Virginia in an awefully long time. I think 12 inches or more does it here (with concurrence on your comment about the schools closing on a snowflake). However, I never have an excuse...I'm one block from the Metrorail. If it's really icy, I'll put elastic ice treds on by boots to walk up the hill to the train.

Pete.

I lived in MD almost my whole life,( well this far, at any rate--I hope its not my whole life...)
Snow here is an EVENT. You people in other states don't realize how much planning it takes to drive here. It takes years of practice to know which is the most critical intersection, and then experience and planning to be in that intersection at the critical moment--and then being able to twist your car sidweays enough to totally block up the intersection, and then the stealth, to abandon your car without being seen.
I tell you, its high art.
On a serious note, the snow is ofter a bit different than you folks in the real snow belt get. Ours is often, wet, and heavy, making more akin to ice than deep powder. It can be tricky, but it is negotiable--at least for long enough to get that intersection blocked.
