I would think 2-4K would be closer, if not alittle more. First, that is low miles. Second, it is a CD which is more on the rare side. I still think they look odd with just 2 doors, but that is just an idiot's opinion.
I saw an obscenely clean bright yellow CD a couple of days ago. It was a yellow I had never seen before, and would be fine if I never saw it again, but wow that CD was clean.

The CD brings more money, especially with the mileage stated.
If the mileage checks out on Carfax and the vehicle shows well, it would sell for $4-$5K on ebay without too much difficulty. Bad paint would knock it down as would a marginal interior. Anything less than $3K would be a steal. |

There a few more variables to consider than mileage, rust, and paint:
At that mileage, if the engine & trans are strong and have been MAINTAINED, preferably as evidenced by documentation in the form of receipts -- or at least a log book -- you can look forward to perhaps 200,000 more miles out of them (maybe 300,000). If the car shows no evidence of collision damage -- get a friend to follow as you test - drive to check tracking. Sight along fender sides to look for wavyness. Check tire wear, try to wiggle front wheels at their tops and fronts, see if car sits "square". It's just as possible to turn a Mercedes into a POS as it is a Neon by poor maintenance ----- but a well - maintained example which will hopefully afford you 200,000 more miles with, say, brake and suspension rebuilds -- is worth $2k - $3k in my book. I paid $2k for my 240D 1.5 yrs ago with 193k on the clock... from original owner. good paint & interior (seats need spring & cushion repair), needs driveshaft bearing & steering parts, needs AC redo --- but I've put on 23k with little more than tires, filters, oil changes so far (tho I've accumulated a bunch of parts to get ready to work). I feel like I have a good buy. |

as the owner
of a nice 82 300cd. i think the guys are a little low except brian who says up to 5k. the rarity of the coupe causes the price guides to price them about 2 grand higher than an equal sedan, i think. i say 4 to 6k. unless it has a host of issues not covered by your very brief description.

I bought an 83 300CD last year and paid 4000 which I thought was a little high but it has a very nice engine (not original) and then had to sink another 4000 in parts to bring it up to my standards...Complete brakes, all new hoses, and many other parts. I have looked at other CD's for sale and see them sell for more than the 4 drs.
