What condition is the rest of the car in? Body? Interior? Any rust? Just curious ... you're a couple hours away and I'm a little poor, but you've piqued my interest (*smacks self for even considering buying this*)

$500 bucks is less than dirt cheap, and you want to low ball the poor guy! We shouldn't profiteer off our MB buddies when they are down.
BTW, seems like offers should be a private message, not open forum, but really that isn't my business. I digress.........

My interest would be for restoration and not parting out - and that's what I have available to offer under the overall circumstances - to include what I can afford.

I wonder why he does not make the best of the situation and find a car with a good body that needs a new heart transplant going cheap (using his current motor)? My friend has a frame machine. He gets some really amazing results pulling out damaged cars on his frame machine. You would then need a hood, fender, grill, radiator, fan etc. to fix your car. If you paid a shop owner for a few hours of machine time to pull out that body you might be really surprised at the results. Then again a donor car might be easier that just needs a new motor, transmission, or both. Sorry for your loss. Go for $650 now at least for the motor and trans. Then part out the interior door panels, seats, dash, trunk lid, rear bumper, passenger doors etc. Have fun and you get to drive your neighbors crazy at the same time. Good luck! John

I really do not have tne skills for an extensive restoration or the time. The radiator has been punctured so the car cannot be run. The engine is fine, the Trans is fine, the rest of the car is in good condition. Brand new alternator, rebuilt PS pump, re sealed steering box, newish glow plugs etc.

I wish I had the time, that looks like a fairly easy fix. $500 is cheap for that if it's as you describe. Did the airbag deploy? Good luck with it, that's a real bummer.
