Great another petroleum oil.

Do you know that no petroleum oil sold in America to Americans would pass the European oil test?

Hmm... things that make you ponder why we get the bottom of the barrel.

Because Americans are too lazy and/or stupid to demand better. The Europeans laugh at us all the time, as well they should.
Also, large US corporate entities take full advantage of American stupidity.

I just used it on my last change. Wally World was out of Truck/SUV when I did the change, though it's back in stock $26.00 a jug. I'll wait for the sale but won't hold my breath. The Castrol 15/40 has the latest diesel ratings on the label. I can't imagine it's any worse or better than all the other dino's we've used in the past.

Have been using it for many miles now

I switched to the Castrol Tection Extra about 4 oil changes ago. Car burns much less oil than on the Rotella.

It is not synthetic, but says extended change intervals are ok. I still change mine every 3000miles. I also put in a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer. The combo works great.

My mechanic has a diesel roll back he uses for towing and strictly uses the Castrol Tection 15W-40. He swears by the stuff.

Anyone had a Blackstone analysis done on the Castrol Tection???

Engine oil prices have gone up a TON lately, our box of 6 gallons of dino Rotella we got for the SD's last year was about $27 at sams club, we just got another box a few weeks ago, and it was FOURTY SIX dollars. thats nearly a 50% increase in price!! Thats $7.67 a gallon vs. $4.50 a year (barely) ago. The 5w30 valvoline dino gasser oil is about $9 a jug now too at autozone....the van only needs 1 gallon for a change though (4qt capacity) and they had a sale going on for $2 off oil if you bought a filter, plus 2 more dollars off if you got an air filter, which we were buying anyways. So we did the complete oil/filter/air filter change on our van for $16! Awesome! The diesels were about $24 apiece.....1.8 gallons of rotella + a $9 filter = $24ish....still not bad at all.

Diesel Giant. I disagree. I bet you anything the LE or Lubrication Engineers dino oil would pass the European tests. Check it out at
http://www.le-inc.com/products/Products.html

I just can't afford the stuff for 3000mile changes but I am going to use it in my next transmission service. It is already in my rear end thanks to my MB dealer. Best dino you can buy.

One of the times I do it on the SD I'll get it done. I do 5K intervals.
