How to remove and replace seat switch-300SD?

Hi. How do I remove and replace the seat switch to a 300SD?

The back-forward direction is not working and I've got a replacement switch. I've removed the two mounting screws and the upper two screws to the door handle. I expected the switch to pull out with a little bit of pressure but it's not coming and I hate to pull (can't!) harder. Does the door panel need to come off?

Thanks!

Randy

Yep. You need to take off the panel, then there are two phillips head screw to pop off the switch. You'll need to cut the wires too. Not too bad a job.

What year 300SD ?
The 1983 has wires connected.
I know 85 has plug on connectors, maybe 84 too.

But before that... I just opened and repaired mine with some contact cleaner
and small file (or sandpaper).

To take off the door panel is not hard.

Remove the piece of trim in the window/doorframe.
Lift the door panel out from the door. Earlier Benz use clips
that pop out, you pry the panel away from the door.
Not the 300SD, if you pry or pull it will break the not replaceable clips.
Lift.

To remove door panel:

Remove plastic piece by interior unlock handle
Remove long hand rest/ pull bar
Remove silver plate at door lock on side of door.
Unscrew plastic push lock button.
push up and out to remove panel.
