2007 last year of the volkswagon tdi in north america?
Thats what a dealer quoted me when we were looking for a new one last week. Said they will not be available for two years. Have nothing to back this up. Just thought it was too bad if true. No ulterior motive that I can think of for him to mention it. He knows we have owned them for years. He threw this out when I asked him if they were going to continue the present body style for about four more years with the tdi. Style is not particularily to my liking others of course will feel differently.

I'm an avid reader of AutoWeek, MotorTrend, Automobile, and Car/Driver and not once have I read about VW pulling the TDI from America.
I'd have a hard time believing it for two reasons - 1) they sell every TDI that comes here for full sticker and 2) every other manufacturer has stated that they'll start bringing diesels in 2008/09 (BMW, Lexus, Toy, Merc). But then again, manufacturers do some goofy stuff for reasons that have nothing to do with logic.

For much the same reasons I agree with you. Also notice even renault is introducing one here. But since that dealer sells about 90 percent diesels I could not figure out why he would say that. So posted it with no substantiation. Again too bad if true. But why just for two years?

What i've seen is that VW will pull the tdi for 2007 for emmisions reasons, and bring out a new tdi for 2008. This is just going to make tdi prices go sky high. I sort of would like to get one, however many of 2001-2003 are going for near there sticker prices. I think the A3 Jettas and B4 Passats can be picked up for around $5000.

I pretty sure they are doing it for emissionss reasons. They probably need to redesign the engine.
