The suggestion about taking the insides out of the old expansion valve and using it for a fitting for the flushing is directly from the MB Factory Air Conditioning manual....
I don't understand why people try to find things other than flushing fluid to flush with. It might be formulated to work well as a flush agent.

Now re-install this in its normal place, and you will now be able to flush the evap. from the engine compartment using the ends of the two hoses, and you will clean the hoses as well. Also, this method makes it easy to forward and reverse flush.

Good Luck,

I'm all for making a tool out of anything that would otherwise be thrown away. I have a good # of such tools myself!

Sounds like a good idea as my SD is getting a hardcore flush next week. Is there a PDF I can read on this issue?
