driveshaft bearing

I find it really odd that I can pickup a center support with bearing
for just about any Mercedes for around $20 to $30 (bearing and support).

But the 1983 300SD seems to come as $20 or so for the support and another
$20 or so for the bearing. Bringing the price closer to $50.

The sellers with these only can say that the manufacturer made the lists and
they only distribute (no first hand knowledge).

It seems that the 300SD bearing must match other MB vehicles ?

Does anybody have any comment on these ?

The support is unique to the 126 body. The bearing is the same as on many of the other cars, 123, 124, 140, 210, 211 etc.

Thats what it costs.

Replaced mine last fall, seems to have gotten rid of the driveshaft vibration.

Don't remember the cost but I did mine recently and it got rid of a lot of the big vibrations. Now I'm suspecting my u-joint so I'm going to swap driveshafts with my wrecked car that had no vibrations when it was running.

Hmmmm

When I bought my 83 SD last October the shaft bearing and assy was totally shot, limited my test drive to 5MPH, so that $50 solution was my first exposure to MB...it seemed pretty reasonable to me and still does for a bearing/rubber/mount and associated bits and pieces. It's not like my old Olds afterall. What ticked me off was $37 for a motor mount.

You got ripped, motor mounts should be under $20 for these cars.

I paid $17 each last year for the SDL's mounts. And AFAIK they are the same or very very similer to the SD's mounts.
