I have yet to see ULSD in the south bay at the 5 or so stations I fill up at. Well that is unless they have no notices about it. I saw a LSD sticker in San Luis Obispo as pictured earlier in the thread but no where up here. If we do have it and this is how the prices are going to be I can live with it, I can get diesel for about the same as regular unleaded, cheaper in some parts.

I was making a trip to the south just recently and noticed on some stations in the south (NC, SC) these stickers "Low Sulfur Content Diesel Fuel", etc etc... I was kind of freaked out and thought it was the new ULSD, too... lol. I filled at this one Shell in SC, which had that sticker, and the car smoked a lot for some reason... I generally don't see smoke when I accelerate unless I get up way past 4K RPM, but with this Shell fuel, I was seeing these dark puffs of smoke, which was weird... Since then, I filled at Exxon with the same label, and no smoke like before... Chevron diesel - no smoke either...
Wonder how Shell fuel was different that made my car smoke a lot more

The only stations that I've seen so far post Cetane rating were Exxon and Chevron, and they were both 40. What's supposed to be the "premium" rating?

The only place I've seen cetane ratings on the pump is in Maryland. It was right outside Baltimore. Showed it was 40. With this new ULSD in Texas at least, the fuel is supposed to have a minimum cetane rating of 48. Don't know if they'll actually post that on the pump though.

I've seen ratings in Fredericksburg, VA and also in NC and SC, and those ratings were always 40. That Shell didn't have a rating posted - maybe they mixed in some donkey p*ss into it.... who knows...
