Mobil 1 0w-40

Is the Mobil 1 0w-40 diesel rated? It has an SM/CF rating. At $6.29/qt it's too expensive for summertime, but it would make sense for winter (when my car is not really driven anyway).

at the risk of starting a flame war, I'll say that if you're not going to drive it during the winter at all, that I'd use the cheapest oil I can.

Reason being is that you're going to start it a few times only. I'd want the contaiminents out for the long sit, then run the good stuff when you're driving it.

go to Mobil 1.com and look at what they recommend

For what I can remember here at work - that looks to be the oil I have in my v-12

As I recall, the 0w oils are too thin for the pressures encountered in a diesel.

Try Murrays. I think it's $5.79/qt.
