I know this is not diesel related, but since it is in a diesel car I thought I might be able to slip it in.

I have the door panel off the drivers window because the window is slow. I thought I might be able to see what the problem is. The sliders were a little dry- I lubed them up. The track is old-sprayed some silicon lube in the tracks. The gears looked dry- applied some fresh lithium grease.

The window seems to work a little better, though not much. The window seems to get slow as the glass gets within about four to six inches of the top. I thought there might be some adjustments where I could eliminate a binding condition. I tried moving the vertical post that the regulator slides on. This did not help any.

There is a definate point where the window slows, but I can't seem to locate what is causing the slow down. Any ideas frome all you old SD owners out there?

Thanks,
Doug V.

You can add a drip of oil in the velvet like rubbers/sliders/guidance... Oiling this part of the system may have a surprisingly result on some occasions...

These regulators are made of pot metal. Over time the stress on them slightly bends them out of straightness. Eventually they just snap from the distortion. Two of mine did, they are now new, and they go up twice as fast as the old ones. If you lube everything, you may save them, but they will probably still be slow.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will just have to bite the bullet, save my pennies and buy some regulators/motors.
