300D '85 Power issues

Ok Hopefully someone can help ...
Here is whats happening now:

When the Engine is Loaded ( on a Hill or heavy acceleration or with the AC on or all the above ) the car appears to be lacking power sometimes.

I'm worked out that I might have had some Turbo Boost Issues at higher speeds and that appears to have been Resolved.

But the Big thing it does is after driving a while and then when taking off from a stand still with the AC on the Car will make a different than normal Dieseling sound, some say this means its starved for Fuel. When this occurs it seems to rool very slowly and then like some Fuel pressure built up and start to get some momentem and gets going adn then the Boost kicks in and then your rolling down the road. But lets just say from the stand still you don't want to do this with heavy traffic.

Also upon this Take off from stand still with the extra Dieseling sound there is plenty of Black Smoke from the rear . Once you get some Fuel going/ Boost which can be seen from the Boost gauge the Sound disappears.

I'm still in the process of eliminating what I have found others to have had as problems. Filters and so on.

I'm wondering if this cold be the result of Coked Injectors , Maybe one only.
Going to do a Diesel Purge as soon as I get some.

Thx, Eric

Change filters, check banjo bolts, check ALDA lines.

Thx

Yep done all of this so far , however the lowend Power is still bad.

I'm starting to think this is related to eithe rone or a few coked injectors.

I've only had the car since March so have not knowledge of past injector maintenance. So planning to get some Diesel Purge and try that out. I hear so much good about it ?

If that doesn't do it I've even considered the next step of Injector nozzle replacement.

Any other ideas I apprecate it.

Eric

Have you measured the boost pressure? It should be at least 8 psi or more under load. 11 psi better. Insert a tee in the vac line and bring the gauge out into the car to check it while driving.
Also is there a Nasty Trap Oxidizer on that car? if so it may be the culprit!

OH for sure

Yes I got one of those shortly after the purchase of the car.

Boost looks great.

The problem appears to be Prior to the Boost Kicking in (I observe and have heard that Boost should kick in between 2000 and 2400 RPM)

My issue appears to be Crap acceleration/power prior to this RPM range it then improves due to the Boost doing its part but could be better.

Once its warmed up and on the Highyway the pedal Response and the Boost all appear much better but then if you pull off the road and stop at a light ... and then take off well you get that foot to the floor and we just trickle along until she gets some momentum and then we introduce the beginning of boost and it picks up some more and steadly increases speed.

I'm really thinking I got a bad injector or Coked injectors.

What ya think.. ?

Thx Eric

Ok , This is indeed an Old Thread .. But to follow it out to completion..

I determined from much reading that the Cable Adjustment on the Top of the Value Cover of my 85 300D was well not adjusted properly. This Device acts as a sort of FeedBack for the Transmission system to know when to Shift relative to Throttle position and Vaccum.

Anyways, my car was shift into 3rd or 4th WAY too early hence it would not excelerate with any power. Once I adjusted this it would shift at a more wide variation of RPMS and GET UP AND GO...
