Glow Plug remains on

Hello Everyone

I have been reading up on the glow plug system and I have a set of problems that I haven't beeen able to find through researching the forum.

My Glow Plug light stays on after start up. The light never goes out which means the glow plugs are receiving power throughout the ride to my destination. This increases the temp of my engine especially on hot days in the summer and I don't like seeing my temp sky rocket. It worries me.
I don't understand what is going on.

What I have been doing is once i start up my car I pop the hood and disconnect the smaller connector in my glow plug relay system. and reconnect it once I get to where I am going. It is beginning to just be annoying and I don't know what is going on.

Can anyone help me? Thanks I really appreciate it.

Are you sure the glow plugs are staying on, or is it just the light? Have you measured the voltage to the GPs after the car is running?

I know that the GPs are still on because I touched them when the car was running and I wouldn't suggest that to anyone else. I will check the voltage to the GPs tomorrow.

I would check the voltage anyway, they would be hot even if they weren't on, due to engine heat. If they are actually staying on, you probably need a new relay. BTW, it would help if you listed the model and year of your car.

Let us know what you find out, and we'll go from there.

I checked the relay system and all voltages seemed fine. I cheked each connection as well and none of the readings were close to the infinte mark. I even opened the relay box and cleaned one of the small connections because it had corrosion on it but that yielded no results either. I was wondering if anyone had a schematic or explanation of the inside of the relay box itself. Thanks guys.
