I thought I had identified that I was comparing the W115 240D and 300D. Oops sorry for the confusion.

I might add that the car does have a fair amount of blowby but runs through a catch can rig. The car is hard to start and the WVO/gas mix is thicker than petro diesel. When starting, the engine speed (even when the idle adjust knob is turned all the way up) goes up and down at startup but then evens out as it warms up within the first 10 seconds of operation.

It happened again

Hi all, I ran into another anomaly probably due to crud I didn't see in the fuel. I was starved of fuel today on the way home and ran out of fuel on the side of the road but fortunately in a safe place! I changed the canister filter on Sunday but not the clear filter because it was still clear. After pulling over I pumped the primer pump which had no fuel pull whatsoever. After a minute or two I tried the primer pump again which went back to normal. I added a can of diesel purge which I had in the trunk to the tank and took off with no problems.

How does one get to the fuel tank strainer in the W115? I prestume it must be clogged?
