Question Looking for diesel tuners in LA. MORE POWER PLEASE

I have been on an exhaustive search locally and I'm not finding anyone even remotely interested in high performance diesels. I need a extremely talented mechanic who may be interested in making huge power on biodiesel or WVO.

And then the silence hits....... Am I freakin' crazy, quite likely.

Maybe you are too

If you know what the WVO / Bio market is like in LA, can you imagine if these cars were actually fast too?!

I'm assuming his 1984 300SD he mentions in his profile, in which case, all I can say is "you have the wrong car for "tuning" buddy". Even with thousands of dollars of work, you'll barely achieve 190-200hp, and most likely would cause engine destruction/premature wear. Sell yours and get a 420sel or 560sel, then you'll have more power than you know what to do with.

Aside from the normal maintenance to make sure you get the most from these engines stock, they are not designed to be powerhouses for tuning etc.

If you want diesel performance, your best cars to use are the 86-87 300D, 87 190D and 98-99 E300. In other words, you want an OM602, OM603 or OM606. Any one of those three engines will walk all over a modded OM617 (82-85 300D) in 100% stock trim and will run away from even the most extreme OM617 if they have any performance tuning.

The fastest OM617 powered vehicle I've seen in the USA is a 300D with a Myna pump doing a 10 second 0-60. Now admit it, even a Kia Rio will out run that.

First thing is yes my 300SD I would like to get what I can out of it within reason. I'm not going to be drag racing, but I'd like to get the best boost and tune I can get into it for WVO efficiency. I did cut the muffler out and just left the resonator on and got maybe 5 - 10 % set of the pants feel. So this car is not the one for major power. But I do want to build a 24v engine (606?) or something more crazy and put it into a light chassis like a older coupe? or work with the best chassis for the job.

Go talk to a tractor shop that tunes engines for tractor pulls. Lots of power out of those things. Of course, the owners don't mind that they use about 5 gallons of diesel for a single pull and need a rebuild every season! At least they will have mechanics who might be interested in your engine.
