Just bought a 190D -- few questions
Just bought an '84 190D auto with 198k. PO bought it with a bad headgasket (overheated) replaced the headgasket, water pump, radiator, etc. so all that is good to go now. Paid $1500 for it.
I'm not new to MB diesels, but I am new to the "2nd gen" diesels (OM60x) and the newer chassis (w201). Any good things to search for on the forum? Kinda strapped for time at the moment, so will be doing some good forum surfing later on, but I have a few quickies at the moment. --What mileage should I expect out of it? I've gotten 31mpg out of it at 70-80mph. --How big is the fuel tank? The fuel gauge doesn't work so would like to know when I need to fill up!! --The transmission leaks from the rear of the tranny (not 100% sure, haven't had time to get under the car yet). The odd thing is that it leaks mostly when the car is off. I will know in the morning if it leaks while driving. What could cause that, and is it a common thing? --The transmission is regulated by a cable and vacuum right? Cable controls when to shift, vacuum controls firmness? Yay/nay? It shifts like crap at the moment... I'll post pictures when I'm back at my house later next week... hopefully this tranny issue doesn't get any worse!! Thanks!!
