Hey thanks forced.
I never knew any of the details to these things.. You seem to be able to answer a lot of my questions. So then this is a first for me. I've never, ever seen a 123, or any Mercedes diesel, for that matter any newer than a 79 without a turbo.
Now I won't look like such a Dumb a$$.
That's why I thought they never made them after 79 w/o turbo. It's gotta be really, really rare atleast.

ya gotta wonder why he bothered to put in the dark picture... you can tell it has a roof...
the only way that is a Euro is if it was ordered by American as an American car, but picked up in Germany, and self shipped to save import costs... still American, but could claim picked up in Europe... and misunderstood to be a Euro.

My 1984 AMG is a Euro and it has wood trim. Most Euros don't have the climate control, however.

Not rare at all. My 80 was non-turbo and lots of W124s are non-turbo.

I'm learning, so just keep debating guys. I don't have enough Mercedes knowledge to contribute more to this than I have, but maybe next time.

European models were available with automatic climate control. Just not that particular version in 1980.

In fact-- European models were available with optioning in-line with North American market cars. It could be that this car is a highly optioned(and highly federalized) European model. It could also be a load of B.S. too.

Why's it matter so much that we need a "rag on this eBay car I saw" thread EVERY time there is a piece of crap car being misrepresented? If the car was nice, you'd all still bash it to pieces.

Can there not be a sticky thread so we don't have to comb through these every time we visit?

I asked for the VIN saying i needed to find out if my insurance would cover it. Also asked if he had a valid title.

Its defintely not a Euro. It has a federal VIN plate on the A pillar.

Speaking of Vin plates, does anyone know where I can get a book, or a diagram, of where every single vin tag/stamp is located on a 560 SEC. I'm looking at another one, but have a lot of suspiciouns about it authenticity, and originality. Are there any vins on the frame underneath?
Aside from the A pillar, radiator support, and door jamb, where else on the car will the vin, be located? I'm sure the windows aren't etched, so where else?

Some CD/D had turbo's and were called 81's. It depended on date of manufacter- not the year it was called. Most D/CD's called 81 were not turbo'd. Some "euro" w123 had wood- most did not. Remember that when you say "euro" you mean "non USA"- which means all the rest of the world; not just europe. In any case- who cares? If it's a euro it still has the same amount of HP, same tranny, same almost everything. In the end run it really makes no difference at all if it is a "euro" or a "japanese" or "brazillian" or "domestic" model.
