Think the MERC diesel would

burn crude oil. Or a crude oil and diesel mix. Or something else to dilute the thickness of the crude?

Engine oil, yes. Crude oil, don't chance it. Too many impurities.

The MERCury Lynx could be fitted with a 2.0L Mazda RF series engine in 1984-1985. This engine was also available in Topaz(and Tempo) vehicles.

Prepare yourself before you debate, Mister-- you'll lessen the chances a sassy froot'll come along and make you look a fool

*disclaimer*
I'm just foolin with ya, but isn't it fun that there's a diesel *Topaz* in someone's garage? Think they're decent cars?

So instead of bringing the used motor oil back to get recycled, we could put it right in the tank? Somehow that seems only slightly worse than pouring it right in my drinking water...

IDK about the diesel in it, but I decided a Topaz would be a bad car to have a wreck in after I dented my grandmother's Topaz by simply riding my bicycle into it... at low speed even. Fortunately stuff like that doesn't bug her too badly... that was about 9-10 years ago I expect, I was 7 or 8.

MERCEDES,aka MERC, greatly predates the Ford Motor Company Mercury--which was cobbled together in 1939. Therefore, I shall reserve the title MERC for Mercedes, just as others refer them to Benzos.

The black stuff just surfaced from the oil rig, not the used oil from the crankcase. It has not been refined at all, and therefore has all the paraffins, diesel base, kero, paint thinner, mineral spirits, acetone, gasoline pollimers, et al. It can range from water thin to almost wheel bearing paste like.

Just wondered if some of the thinner grade crude could be cut with anything to make it diesel friendly. This is TEXAS ya know, and we all uns have an oil well inna back yard. Just wanted to quit some of the trips to the gasoline/diesel fillin station

Most DMV's refer to them as MEBZ, MERB, or MEB

For one of the old Lincoln Continental Diesels. They were BMW powered I think. Only saw one in the flesh, er, tin. Have since seen 2 on E-bay in the last 5 years or so

Only seen a picture of the Lincon Continental diesel, but I worked at a BMW shop in the mid '90s and it's the same turbocharged six used in the mid '80s BMW 524TD. Decent engine except for the timing belt and being a pain to work on, and parts were getting hard to find even then.

Happy Motoring, Mark
