240d manual trans or throttle problems?

I's stunted. A few days ago when shifting to 2nd the pedal seemed hard to push down on ,like it was stuck or something had gotten behind it. I pushed harder and the car would not accelerate, or did unnoticeably. I taped the pedal and no help. I shifted to 3rd then down to 2nd and it seemed to work. I looked and the pedal seems clear and moved freely,so i sprayed wd40 anyway. I moved the linkage from under the hood and it moved freely. I just finished a valve adjustment and valve seal change out and may have reconnected a link incorrectly, but it all moved easily as i moved it by hand. It is now hapenning 2wice in the morn and about twice on the way home. Any Thoughts for a good 240d manual 1982. Ray
