190D 2.5 to 2.5turbo
I am playing around with the idea of putting a turbo on my 2.5l. i'd like to get a little more out of it. so here are my questions...
1. where is the best place to find a turbo and other parts necessary to hook it up? 2. can i just bolt all the necessary parts on and call it good or would i have to go through the engine, and beef it up a bit? 3. what are some general thoughts about doing this? has anyone here done this before. thanks for your guys input.

Id think youd need oil cooled pistons in order to properly turbo an N/A engine. Otherwise youll shorten the lifespan of the engine. and probably wont gain much power.

You will need to swap the entire engine to get any increase in power without harming engine durability.

both of you guys kinda confirmed my suspicion. if the job requires major work to convert it over i won't. i'd rather keep the engine going. what would be some thought on an intercooler?

You would still need to exchange the injection pump to get any change in power output.

Non-Turbo to Turbo
KBCB,
An intercooler cools the compressed (and heated by the compression) intake air... no turbo ...no need for an intercooler. #1 The 2.5 turbo engine has a "nitrided" (chemically hardened) crankshaft. #2 As someone has already inferred the 2.5 turbo has oil spray jets (that spray from the underside of the pistons). #3 The pistons have an internal set of of passageways that conduct the oil spray and remove heat from the piston crowns. #4 The turbo engine has different injector "pop off" pressure (higher). The load enforced by the turbo (air pressure and heat coefficient along with higher detonation pressures) will doom the N A engine to a short lifespan. |

The N/A engines are very limited on the power they can put out. Any additional fuel will just create black smoke, high temperatures, and reduced economy.
A K&N air filter or altered exhaust won't do anything for power. |

ok so what i'm getting is just buy the large cup of coffee, and enjoy the drive. lol. thats alright. thanks for the info guys!
