1981 300TD No tach?
Ok, I find this dream 300TD on ebay.
Looks absolutely beautiful inside and out. Headrests for second row. Then I check out the dash pics. No tachometer. Is this correct? Check out that oil pressure at less than operating temp. I don't think that is a good sign at all. Oh well, time to look elsewhere. What do you guys think? Kevin 1979 240D manual 1984 190D manual

It looks like the engine may have problems. The low oil pressure and the P/S pump may be going out.

Yeah, I saw that stain and the pump looked like a likely source. Beautiful interior though. Cluster must not be original though right?

It might be original, there is no tach in the options list.

Didn't have a tach in my 80, not sure if they were added in 81 or 82.

I seem to remember that tachs were introduced on the '82 models. Turbos for the wagons started in '81. '82 for sedan/coupe.
The biggest problem I would have with that car is that the price is already over 11K!  I have been eliminated.......

81 was a strange year for these cars. If I remember right, the wagon got the turbo in 81 and the sedans went turbo in 82. It's possible that the new cluster with the tach didn't come until 82.

I have an 81 300TD Turbo (same color as the ebay one, not as pretty though). No Tach.

Why is the tach amplifier there?
If you will look in the lower right hand corner there is a little black cylinder that looks like the tach amplifier to me.

That's only a cap. It covers a plug where the tach amp would normally be.

Seller says that the pressure is below 2 because it is at idle. Pegs with acceleration. He says the car runs cool so it probably needs a thermostat. Does have the proper antifreeze color. Doesn't know about the stain but says the power steering pump doesn't leak.

When I get my 83 all cleaned up, ya think it will pull anywhere near that price? the bidding is up over 11K, and it's still RESERVE NOT MET! wow.
