Strange W123 ACC fuse issue
I had a strange fuse symptom yesterday. After picking up my 300D from my indy (tranny service, etc), I noticed that the tach wasn't working and assumed he knocked something off. After it warmed up I noticed the ACC was giving me full heat regardless of the temp wheel setting. Everything else on the ACC worked fine.
When I got home and checked the fuses, I found the #14 fuse failed. After replacing the fuse everything was back to normal. The strange part was that the fuse failure resulted in the ACC going to full heat without any other issues. So, if you get full heat from the ACC, check your #14 fuse. Strange. |

It is not as wierd as you think. You need to take your car back to your tranny mechanic. He messed up.
Underneath your accelorator pedal there is a switch. When you mash the pedal the switch is closed which is suppose to activate the step down selinoid on the transmission. If the wire is shorted or the selinoid is bad, it causes too much current in the circuit and blows the fuse. This is fuse # 14 which also controls part of your climate control, specificly the valve that regulates the amount of radiator fluid to the heater core. The climate control kicks the fan on to high trying to cool the cabin,.......yes with hot air. Go figure. TimK
