2nd Delay - Tranny Question
What does it mean when theres about a 2 sec delay before the tranny engages when shifting to D or R? Is it a linkage thing or something else?

Mine actually began to engage faster with synthetic than on dino. My dad's noticed no difference, but it improved shifting on both (especially in the frigid cold)

The older they get.........the more the delay. It could be low pump pressure or it could be varnish in the valve body.
If you'd like to take a shot........put some Trans-X in there for a couple of hundred miles..........and see if it helps. But, don't count on it.

Our autozone (Eastern Street location) does carry Trans-X, and they also have Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF....I buy a very large amount of stuff there.
