Vacuum igniton switch?

Explain to me how these work? What are the two ends for? What happens when the valve is press in or out? How does it shut off my car. I am fairly keen on the subject. Thanks

I have the valve can I use it to stop my car? If so how?

The two components I am working with is the the switch that is connected to the electrical harness. I think I have that under control. But HOW DOES THE VACUUM VALVE work? I know some guru know this.

The vacuum section of the KEY SWITCH applies vacuum to a shut off valve in the injection pump when the key is turned off. That causes the fuel to the engine to be shut off and the engine stops running.

If no vacuum is applied to the shut off valve, the injection pump will pump fuel to the engine and it will run.

So when the cam has the valve open the car will run? And if I close the valve the car will shut off. Mind you I am planning to do this manually until my new parts come in.

breadrb,

Just experiment with the valve. If U can get the engine stared, that is the run position. If it won't start, manually turn the valve and that should be the run position.

If U have the engine running and turning the valve causes the engine to stop, U know that is the stop position.

When you say no vacuum is applied does that mean the ingition vacuum valve is open in a loop? Or closed?

You really don't even need to worry about the switch. You can control the shut off valve at the back of the pump by simply sucking on the line to shut it off. You can start the car by jumping the first and third wires in the junction box on the left front fender.

Yeah but can you also do it the way I mentioned. I drive and stop all the time when I deliver, so I want to make it as easy as possible. Twist the switch and operate the vacuum swich. Which I am unsure of.

breadrb,

"Keyswitch vacuum valve is open or in a loop? or closed" I don't know what the correct terminology is.

When I say vacuum is applied to the shut off valve I mean there is a continuous loop thru the keyswitch and vacuumn lines to the vacuum pump. A vacuum gage at the shutoff valve would give a reading.

If no vacuum was applied to the shut off valve, a gage would read zero.
