I live in NJ. Just bought a florida 300 td. Will I need a block heater come winter? If so, how involved is the installation?

You might be in luck and the car has one. My car had one when I bought it, so I don't know what exactly is involved. I would imagine you would have to drain all the coolant, remove one of the block freeze plugs, and replace it with the heater. The heater rund off household current, so wiring is nothing more than a cord that runs out to your bumper. As far as needing one here in N.J. I know for my car, it helped this past winter. It really depends on the overall condition of your engine and what type of oil your using. Synthetic will make it easier for the enigne to turn over. Comvential oil will take a little more umph! to get her started. Speaking of umph!, a strong battery is a must. I would get one eitherway. It certainly can't hurt. What year, rather chassis, wagon did you buy?

If you get under the car and look up underneath the manifolds on the passenger side, you will probably see the block heater. It is about 1 1/2" with two small screw terminals for the cable. Most, if not all cars had the block heater from the factory, but the cable was not installed. If the heater is in place, you can get a cable, they are inexpensive. Then connect the electrical terminals and carefully route it to a point at the bottom, passenger side of the grill opening. In the winter time, leave the plug hanging out a little past the grill. In the summer tuck it back out of the way.

Good luck,
