slow goin': my compression, smoke, and COLD motor

so, i'm had some smoke + compression problems, discussed most recently HERE, but, i'd really like some input on a possibly (?) related issue(s) with my wagon:

1. when the motor's cold (in the morning), she'll barely accelerate. i mean, she starts up quick, but when accelerating from a stopsign, she takes forever to get up to speed, and the turbo won't really boost her much. after she warms up to normal operating temp, things are much improved.
how come?

2. why is it that if i leave her idling for for a long time, though she may not be smoking much, she'll belch a HUGE cloud of light blue/grey smoke out when i pull away, or if i put her in neutral and rev the engine?

(btw, i've done the diesel purge, glow plugs, fuel filter change, valve adjustment, and alda hose cleaning, so i don't think those are issues...)

would love have some input on this stuff!

Have you ever done a 0-60 time on the vehicle when fully warmed?

1. I have a different engine and mine has the same problem. no "instant fix" answers have been found yet, but it coudln't even pull itself up onto our trailer until it got warm the other day.

2. I think most engines do this. Why diesels do it I'm not sure but it's the "fouled plug" effect in gas burners, idle for long enough, temps drop, fuel and oil sort of just get built up in injectors, (spark plugs on gassers), etc. Give it some throttle and things just sort of clear out. Maybe? Makes sense to me anyway.

Slow acceleration when cold is typical of diesels. Figure at 20 degrees you have about 25hp at start up and gain 5 hp for every 100yds you drive until you reach rated bhp.
Smoke might be bad turbo seals or valve stem seals.

My wagon is a little slow when she's cold. It's normal. What type of oil are you using? If it's heavy stuff it's going to take longer to warm up. Could try some thinner oil.

Does this formula result in a calculation of about 5hp at 0°F.?

If so........then I concur.
