Whats the best way to clean my intake? a mechanic diagnosed my power loss issue as a gunked up intake...the fitting on the intake is spitting oil and I need to clean the intake.

Intake Manifold?
Brake cleaner, B99 or other solvent all work well. May need to fill it and let it soak a while. You need to pull it first of course.

B99 has the advantage of being nontoxic (well, at least 99% of it, and only until you use it for this purpose), but in my experience it doesn't clean the manifold as well as other solvents. And whatever you use must be properly disposed of as hazardous waste.
This is a very messy job. If you can find a local engine shop who'll soak it or steam clean it for $50-60, you're better off going that route. IMHO. |

I removed mine and let it soak in some parts cleaner. I went to Lowe's and bought a REFRIGERATOR BRUSH. Clean as a whistle.

although some oil in the intake is normal on these cars you might want to check if you are getting more than normal.Check the outlet of the turbocharger it should not be dripping wet with oil,an oil film there is to be expected. The hose from the valve cover to the intake can feed oil into the turbo, you can put a longer hose on there and run it into a can and drive a few days to get an idea of how much oil is coming from there. In any case cleaning the manifold is a good thing to do and not difficult, just really messy.Dont forget to order the 2 gaskets for the manifold from Mercedesshop.com so you dont have to go to your local $tealer$hip and pay X4. there is an intake manifold cleaner
I found an aerosol can labeled "intake manifold cleaner", it looked just like the other engine cleaner products. If it is off the car you can also use some of the purple all purpose cleaner. It seems to disolve oil based goop pretty well. The brushes are a good idea.
