Battery won't charge
1978 300CD - Alternator has been bench tested by Auto Zone, and they say it checks out OK. New positive and negative battery leads. Battery light flickers, less at higher RPMs. Battery runs down after 2-3 days. What else could be causing this not to charge?

Sounds like there is a power drain somewhere. Have the entire system checked while on the car. Bench testing is fine, but many times I have seen things that pass the bench test, but fail the field test.
Also using a muli-meter check each fused item in the fuse block for a power drain. Look for amps being drawn by removing the fuse and using the MM to complete the circuit.

Not that I distrust Autozone but.....have you put a meter on the battery with car running and seen the output volts for yourself?
