Fuel MPG poll

Vote what MPG do you get for your OM616 or OM617 powered car and post your exact MPG.

I currently get 28mpg.

I average 25-26 mpg on my 57 mile commute. Last weekend I set a personal record in this car... 27.6 mpg. This tank was all interstate at 70-75 mph. 490 miles on the clock when the reserve light finally came on!

Over 1.5 years of ownership and 18,000 miles, the average for my '84 300td is 27.6 MPG, with a low of 23.7 MPG on the way home from buying it, and a high of 30.1 MPG during the 100F+ days we had in Atlanta last summer. About 2/3 of my driving is in traffic, averaging 35 MPH.

What WOULD you be pleased with? What is your expected mileage?

Mine has varied from 26-28mpg over 30K miles, mostly highway, but I don't check it on every fill either.

My 300SD gets 23mpg consistently on B100, in city only, driven by my wife. However when we take it on a road trip it will pull 26 to 27. I tend to drive 75mph on the highway and use the cruise.

Now the Escort gets 42mpg on B100 driving to and from work, 42 miles per day but that's another story.

The 300D has seen 26 in normal driving....but our SD's both rarely get over 24.5

I gained about .5mpg when I went to straight pipe, and another 1.5 when I put in new injector nozzles.

I get better milage when I add some SVO to my tank. Right now I'm running 1-2 gallons of virgin veggie to the 18 gallons diesel. It runs better and I get 27-ish. If I don't add the veg, I get around 25. And this is in the winter with #2 fuel.

I would be pleased with something more like 27. I get about the same (22-24) in my Scout and its a lot bigger and less aerodynamic.

I have been averaging between 20.4 (my lowest) and 24.8 (my highest) for the winter season so far....and I am pleased overall. I don't drive all that much....maybe 90-125 miles a week average...during the winter.....so its no big deal. My fiancee's Toyota Rav4 gets terrible mileage. Highest she's ever gotten was 20ish or so....and she filled it up 2 days ago and got like 18. LOL. In a 2400lb car with a 2.0 4-cylinder and manual trans. Absolutely pitiful. AND, my car can leave it in the dust. Its sloooow and can't effectively deliver any power. Not to mention road noise....and discomfort.....and no star at the end of the hood. Ok I am done.

That's at least 1.5-2.0 mpg better than I ever get from my 300td. Be glad. I average 20.5/21 on a good tank.
