Angry 81 240D Coolant leak/ After coolant change

Back at fixing my 81 240D again. My brother went and got a radiator flash last week. I drove about 30 miles a couple of days after. While the car was sitting overnight I went to drive and found a small amount of coolant on the ground. I checked the overflow tube and it was dry. I started it up and found coolant leaking off the oil pan.

It appears to be coming from somewhere near where all the belts are and is leaking onto the oil pan.

Any ideas?

Sounds like it's time for a new water pump.

Isn't the water pump on the top, near the radiator?

No, the waterpump is mounted on the engine. The fan is mounted to the water pump. The 240 should be a direct mount instead of using a fan clutch like the OM617.952 engined cars.

Drain the coolant, remove the fan belt, remove the 4 bolts on the fan hub, remove the 6 bolts holding on the pump and install in reverse order. Probably about an hour.

Should I just order a water pump or should I have someone check it out?

Check it out firast. Its most likely the water pump but it could also be the connection hose between the t-stat housing and the pump housing or the gasket between the pump housing and the block.
