OK, here are some torq figures. some one might chime in if Iam off a bit
but here are some I wrote down when I did my engine swap. the oil pan
was already on the engine, so don`t have those.

torq converter drain bolt 10 ft# 14nm

auto trans pan bolts 5.2 ft#

drain plug 10 ft# 14nm

Metric thread suzes
m6 6 - 9 ft#
m8 14 - 21 ft#
m10 28 - 40 ft#
m12 50 - 71 ft#
m14 8- - 140 ft#

to convert inch lbs to foot lbs, divide the inch lbs by 12

to convert foot lbs to inch lbs, multiply by 12

Is that due to the oil cooler or is there somewhere else the oil hides?

It might be if the engine is completely dry. then the added oil would be the oil cooler and filter. I looked in the book to get the right answer for him.
when I do my oil changes it`s usually 8 qts with a filter.

Chad, how did you get that paul drayton site to work?

I took your link and started removing page indicators from the end of the text until it worked. It looked like your link was directing to the w123 section but they probably renamed some pages on the site so it didn't work anymore. I just edited your link to go to the main menu page.
