WOW, Glow Plug miss it's tip?
I had the # 1 GP burned out, So I changed it out with a new one, I was shocked to see the tip on the old GP was missing, It looks as if it was sand blasted off, The only thing I can think of is I must have water in my fuel?
Does anyone have any ideas on this, I have never see this before! 1984 300SD. Thanks, Jim |

The glowplug blew out on its own or the injector spray pattern is bad.

I just put in new rebuilt injector about 4 months ago, So should I buy brand new ones? Will this help?

I had the same thing happen to a Bosch plug. Replaced with a non Bosch plug and it failed shortly. Removed the plug and it looked bradded on the end. Checked the relay and it worked as should to the other plugs but did not shut power off at the failed plug. It was glowing full time, hence the quick failure. If your plug fails again soon check your relay. Good luck.

I wouldn't blame the new injectors, it could have been the old ones that caused the GP to break off. But it wouldn't hurt to pull the one that had the bad GP to make sure make sure it's functioning properly.
