The rogue "D" isn't in my cross hairs yet......
However, one should always defer to the trunk badge of truth!!

I am considering special dispensation for the E300D. A ruling is under consideration. While it is very "little man" to want to make sure the world knows you have a turbo, it is IMPORTANT to make sure folks know we have a DIESEL.
For correctness it will always be an E300, but if dispensation is allowed, all E300D will gain the person is a free pass from ball busting......

Years ago, I saw the SLS setup on a W115 220D.
Car was euro import, had been a taxi at one time.

Not that you asked, but I would lean toward granting the use of the "D" for the reason you stated. Of course I've been know to slip the forbidden 2nd "T" into the mix.

I would love to have this car to remove engine and all tranny/shifter components, not to mention the rear SLS, but with the climate at home [] it really can't even be considered.
I've gone and looked at this car and it has zero value to fix up. Trust me! Parts car only. Engine does turn over but there is a serious short in glow plug system, which really is no big deal.
I think this car could be had for $500 or less. They just want it gone!!!
Good opportunity for somebody. Wrong timing for me......

poor eyesight ....but NOT blind

Okay, guys.

First things, first. I'm looking at this thread.....and some things need to be straightened out. Please forgive me if my MB "newness" shows thru, but, I only see FIVE of those crossover tubes. The original car plus the car that JimmyL's phone took both show 5. I don't think the original car has a 603 engine.

Speaking of engines with SLS head.....the white wagon, 82 300TD, with the blue interior (that keeps donating parts to other forum members), was NOT in its normal resting ground yesterday. I almost had a heart attack. I found the wagon. It was on the VERY, last row. I found something else , but didn't have time to extract them.

So, guys, if I sell all these Mopar A Body Duster parts that I have on eBay, I'd probably have room to at least grab the head off the 300TD....maybe even the engine.

SHEESH!!! This thread seems to be doing about 3200RPM in a 300SDL. I'd LOVE to have that car for parts. Any guess why it won't start? Does it have a #14 head?

Correct! Also the battery in the car was long since dead, plus it was little bitty. The glow plugs were inop, the car hadn't been started in over a year, and all I was using for battery was one of those portable boosters, so engine wasn't spinning near fast enough. But it was spinning.
Trust me, there are 6 intake tubes there, and you can a bit more easily see the 6 exhaust tubes.
Car only had about 124K on it. I didn't look at head #, but you can bet is was original....
The car itself has absolutely no redeeming quality what-so-ever, it is purely drivetrain.....
