Vacuum Line Identification

Hello Folks,

I am hoping that I can get some help from somebody in the know to identify a vacuum line that I removed during an engine swap and can't for the life of me remember where it plugs in. The engine is now running but won't shut off and I am at a loss. I have attached a pic of the offending vacuum line for your reference. Please help!

Car is a 1982 240D with a manual transmission.

FYI: I did do a search on this topic but was not able to find anything. Maybe I am just terrible at searching, either that or there is a thread out there. If somebody knows of one please let me know.

Where else does it go? We need a pic of the connectors down line. Black is usually for a vent line and not meant to loop back. Usually engine shut off is a brown vacuum line

The black line comes off that connector in the pic and just goes nowhere. I have no idea where it is supposed to connect. I traced all the vacuum lines for the ignition and IP and everything looks great. I am not sure where this is supposed to plug in. What is a vent line?

Exclamation UPDATE: I'm a moron!

UPDATE: I'm a moron!!

It turns out that that hose is meaningless and just acts as a "vent hose" as some people have called it. I went and checked every connection in my engine compartment after I installed the new engine and it ended up being a loose connection between the hard plastic vacuum line that goes to the brake booster, and the vacuum pump. The car operates splendidly now. Thanks to all who were concerned enough to read this thread.
