Lucky you. The two times I went into a Fastenal looking for small quantities, I was SOL. Had to buy the whole package.

I think the guy at the counter messed up - They made the branch buy 1000 of them, but the branch let me buy individuals

So don't go to Fastenal expecting individual e-clips, I guess.

The carbon steel ones should be actually stronger than the stainless, just less resistant to rust.

That's pretty mild compared to what I was saying as I went through a $4 box of English sized ones

I know what you mean!

jt20 - maybe, but the OEM part was an eclip, and after finding out what happens when that one little part fails (full throttle) I decided to go with the e-clip. I am a bit concerned that the only metric eclips I could get were carbon-steel rather than stainless, but hopefully they are strong enough. I am not too worried about the carbon-steel rusting under the hood!

Wouldn't a spring clip with the right width have worked also?

good ol' Fastenal. founded in my hometown.

they dont really cater to the everyday individual average joe. but they do have some cool/hard to find stuff.

"Yep. I just went out and measured it. 8mm. Reminds me that there was none on my car when I bought it. I used a 5/16 E clip. It works but it ain't right.
From Mcmaster-Carr

Part Number: 98543A115 $6.30 per Pack of 100"

Does that mean you now have about 90 for sale??

Nope, I just looked it up on their website. Mine still has a 5/16" on it. Will fix it with the right one but got to fix the tranny so I can drive it first.
