You can find a good car anytime in Florida with little to no rust for under $2000. I got a 87 300SDL for 1800 recently. 245K, 6 Cyl. engine, vacuum works, R12 A/C slow to cool, front vibration at 65-70. I'm rebuilding the front now for $500 parts and so far 12 hours labor.(+rental tools). It will be a quality car when I'm done.
BTW I have seen several for $1200-1800 on C/L tampabay

keep looking, don't be in a hurry. remember if you use BD it will be paid for in 2 years in fuel savings alone.
