FWIW, the SLS in my wagon works perfectly, and makes no noise.
It was prompted by my question of surrounding noise levels where he was while hearing the valve. My valve makes a quiet noise that is undetectable next to my noisy road. I can hear it if I'm under the car next to the valve.

Some noise is normal, it is just a hydraulic valve after all. You've seen construction equipment and how much noise their hydraulic systems make.
