The car does not shake when the brakes are applied, at least not any more than when driving down the road.

She's a beauty, eh?

I'll give them a shot on Wednesday, then try someone else.

If that thing is 8K dollars i think i'm posting mine for sale for 24K.. But hey last time i went in they put the directional tires on backwards so i'd give him a break least he's semi-keeping a car from the junkyard tho i'd be kinda embarressed to claim it lol.

I've never had any real issues with tires. I go to Discount Tire....and watch them like a hawk while they work. They tighten the lugs properly with a torque wrench to 80ft/lbs in the correct pattern and are all professional. The one thing they always forget to do it glow the engine properly when starting it. I put a sign in the car now explaining it when I go there. Sigh.

Other than tires its been close to 2 years since my car has ever even seen a shop. There's very little I won't do myself now. Mainly just suspension/alignment stuff since I don't have the right equipment for it.

x2 ugh

I have also had great experiences with discount tires. They have filled, patched, and balanced tires I hadn't even bought there (already on the car when I bought it) as long as I promise to replace the tires there...

great prices and great service.

Tyler, you have such great adventures! Really!

good luck!

I'm sure it is...

Its a good thing I saw his car AFTER he told me he had $8,000 in it. I can't imagine what my response would have been if I saw it before.

It sounds like they screwed up the balance. Your best bet so to have a better shop balance them.

The shop that changed my tires on the SDL warped my front rotors, which are getting thin. The MF's used an impact gun to put the wheels on. After I clearly instructed them not to, serves me right for dropping my car off and going to work. They also ****ed up the balance. I should have went back and told them off for the impact gun thing. Morons.

I'm just never going to go back again, its not worth it. The front rotors were getting replaced this winter anyway.

I asked the guy at Discount Tire to align the little circles on the tires with the valve stems, he told me that they've found that it doesn't make any difference.

Two wheels didn't need any weight at all to balance, ... no difference eh?

i went to a tires plus with my moms 06 lincoln mark lt truck. i didnt want to do an oil change and tire rotation on my back in the fla heat when i was visiting. the truck is my moms and it has 24k on it.

the specialist said it needed rotors, pads, and tires. i said the tires are fine with the 24k. turn the rotors and change the pads.(the pads were pretty crappy, stupid mom driving).

i get half way back to the parents house, and the pads fell off the caliper.- got towed to the dealer got breaks done there, now i needed rotors from the pads taking huge chunks out. had the dealer fix it, and send tires plus the bill.

i am still waiting on better buisness to handle the claim.

moral- never go to chain tire stores. theyre all salesmen.

Might as well have the MB dealer do it. You know they'll do it right, and if not, you have a better chance of getting it fixed right if you complain to MBUSA.

My local MB dealer ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to even look at any car older than 1995. No B.S.! I was told it was because their costs were getting too high because of misdiagnoses... I guess all they can do now is plug them in and let a computer tell them how to fix it.

I figure most of the old school mechanics trained on these cars will be gone in the next 20 years leaving only the $$$$$$ classic center $$$$$ for support.

I know this must really drive you crazy because your attention to your MB's is exemplary! I take pretty much every car I own to Discount Tires whenever I need tires. I am completely satisfied with how every one I've been in runs their business. Always professional and by the book from what I can tell. And they do use a torque wrench to do the final tightening of the lug nuts.
My only complaint is that they will just pop off hubcap or center caps and let them smack face down on the concrete. If I take one of the MB's in I always pop off the hubbies as soon as they pull it into the bay.
