TIRES PLUS!!! Unbelievable what I found today... is this really possible?

This is so unbelievably stupid it deserves another thread on its own.

Here's the thread that documented yesterdays experience at Tire's Plus

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=234103

In summary they let the resident idiot do a checkup on my car and top off my fluids free of charge (WITHOUT ASKING ME PERMISSION)

When I did notice what they were doing, I instructed them to stop, which they must of done in a hurry... The resident idiot who while trying to resolve my tire issues told me he topped off the oil, which didn't amuse me to much.

So, today I get an urge to pop the hood and check things out and here is what I found.

I used the gas cap as a temporary measure to get me to TIRES PLUS and confront these morons.

Luckily, the oil wasn't low enough to be off the dipstick, and the drive gave me time to vent my murderous rage and collect myself for the confrontation.

At first, they told me there was no way they topped off anything because I only bought tires. They only top off fluids for oil change customers.

I informed them that the resident idiot told me he topped it off, and THE PROOF IS UNDER MY %*$&#$* HOOD!

They clearly topped off my washer fluid when because I purposely leave in half full because of a crack on the top of the reservoir.

The manager offered to give me a free oil change, which I refused, because I wanted it done somewhere else. He agreed, and also agreed to pay for an engine bay detail.

Meanwhile, my tires issues have yet to be resolved!

Because you're a young'un they will try and bow you off. Get a lawer, also stick an audio recorder in your pocket. Who knows what else these "professionals" "tuned" while you were in the waiting area.

My father pulled up with me in his 996 Turbo convertible and full business attire to help things along.

After reading your threads, I wouldn't go back to that place, not even to complain.

Stay FAR FAR away. Being there can only mean more potential damage to your car!

Whatever you do, don't do that. It's a crime to record a conversation without the other person's consent.

Kan. Stat. Ann. § 21-4001: Unlawful eavesdropping consists of secretly listening to, recording, or amplifying private conversations or using any device to intercept a telephone or wire communication "without the consent of the person in possession or control of the facilities for such wire communication." Violations are misdemeanors. A criminal breach of privacy, punishable as a misdemeanor as well, occurs when any means of private communication is intercepted without the consent of the sender or receiver. Divulging the existence or contents of any type of private communication, whether carried out by telephone or even letter, is also a misdemeanor if the person knows the message was intercepted illegally. Kan. Stat. Ann. § 21-4002. The state's highest court has interpreted the eavesdropping and privacy statutes to sanction one-party consent for taping of conversations and in interpreting both statutes stated: "In other words, any party to a private conversation may waive the right to privacy and the non-consenting party has no Fourth Amendment or statutory right to challenge the waiver." Kansas v. Roudybush, 686 P.2d 100 (Kan. 1984).
Quote:
The question of whether a recording device is in plain view is not always straightforward. Five minutes into an in-person interview between a reporter and a deputy sheriff in Oregon, the deputy asked whether the object protruding from the reporter s pocket was a tape recorder. The reporter stated that it was and that it was on, and the interview continued for another 10 to 15 minutes. The reporter was later convicted under a state statute making it a crime to record a face-to-face conversation without informing all of the parties.

On appeal, the Oregon Supreme Court held that a judge could have reasonably found that the recorder was concealed, despite the fact that the sheriff continued to participate in the interview after the reporter told him that he possessed a tape recorder and that it was on. On retrial, the reporter was acquitted on the illegal recording charge. (Oregon v. Knobel)

Not necessarily true. During my divorce, I recorded EVERY conversation with the ex wife and used it against her in court. In Ohio, as long as one of the parties is aware of the recording devise, it's admisable in court.

How many times has your engine bay been coated in oil this year? Best remedy is to let me have your car. I'll ensure that it doesn't get into the hands of tire shop idiots any longer.

Sorry about the bad luck, that really sucks.

Let see pics of this "free engine detail". BTW, where did you get that "gas" cap?

Wonder what kind of ol they put in it, I bet it wasn't diesel oil.

I'm not really in the MOOD to deal with "time for a new hood pad" and "gas cap" snarky comments right now... I've been fighting that damn hoodpad since the first oil incident and I'M GOING TO SAY gas cap because its one less letter to type than FUEL. OK?

At least now you don't have to pay for a new hood pad.
