Electrical wire came off from connector on top of intake manifold

This is for 1985 300D Turbo California model.

While cleaning the banjo bolt at the back of intake manifold, I knocked off the electrical wire from the connector on the top of intake manifold (boost pressure switch??).

Can I take off the connector and solder the wire on the eletrical terminal of the boost pressure switch? Or is there such a connector I can purchase?

Thank you

It shouldn't be too difficult to take the plug apart and solder the wire to the terminal inside. Mercedes plugs are made to be taken apart and repaired – the pin comes out of the plastic shell so you can resolder the wire and put it back together. If the plastic shell has disintegrated, you can still use the pin and just put some tape over it for insulation. If you don't even have the pin, you can solder the wire directly onto the switch pin.

The connector can be purchased from a Mercedes dealer but the price is atrocious, I'm sure. A junkyard would be another place to get a replacement. All W123-124-126-other? turbodiesels used the same overboost protection switch, I bet, and so will use the same connector. Some temperature sensors should also use the same connector. You could even take a multi-pin connector and use just one of the pins.

Thank you.

Yes, the plastic part of the connector disintegrated when I tried to take connector off. I soldered the wire directly on the terminal, with an add-on shrink tubing over it. Everything is in order now.
The down-side of this fix is I have to un-solder the wire if one day I decide to take the intake manifold off for some reason.
