Do you think this is the problem? (wipers)

I am planning on taking a trip to the junk yard tomorrow, and got to thinking...the intermittent wipers have never worked in my '85. The regular speed and fast speed are fine, it's just the intermittent. Do you think that would be the problem?

I am thinking about getting a multi-switch while I am out there (if the w123 is still there), along with a few other things.

There is a wiper relay that lives up under the dash. That is what I replaced on my white wagon to get the delay from 1 second to the 4.5 that my other cars had.
[How's that for a fast answer?]

Wiper problem

I agree with Jimmy L. Your wiper problem is the relay. Easy to get to. Pull out the instrument cluster. Look into the abyss top left. Usually two relays here. You will need the one to the right. Just unplug the old and plug in the new.
In fact take the one from the W123 at the junk yard. And find another just in case. Bet it fixes your problem.

You wanted slower wipers? I figured a 2 second delay would be better for light drizzles, but not 4.5!

If your fairly adventurous, they come apart fairly easy to, you can usually clean the relay contacts, maybe resolder some of the infamously cracked Benz/Bosch solder joints and ressurect your old unit. Or have a spare.

Ya know, I didn't even think of that. Oh well, next time.
