Spray can under seat kicked my...

Saw a nice set of front seats-no rips, tears and perfect color at local U-Pull-it. My seats have covers on them as they are pretty trashed.

Used the 12 volt battery of my DeWalt drill to move seat forward to get to bolts at back of passgener seat when it jammed.

The PO had allow a can of spray paint to jam into the seat track at an impossible angle. The seat can go back all the way but only 1/3 forward (no acess to rear bolts)

I sent 6 hours trying every tool and techique to get that #$%^& spray can out.

No luck-hate to leave the seats there-but they kicked my butt.

Too bad! How about removing the console? If you get it out of the way can you take the can out from the side?

Oh wait... can you pull up the seat bottom? Try removing the seat bottom.

Do your seats work? If they do, take a crowbar to the seat in the car and rip it out. Then remove the seat and back to take home.

Would removing the front track bolts allow enough movement to free the offending spray can? How about adjusting the seat elevation?

The leather cover can be easily removed in like 5 minutes. It just slides into a groove around the bottom of the seat!

God I hate to say this...................

If you have gotten the front bolts out, rock the seats
back and forth until you have broken the tracks free.

It is the springs you need...........right?

Sounds, easy.....but I had ONE seat beat me at this last summer. The nut holder clip thing had rusted and the bolt (and rusted nut) were just spinning. I got a hole in the floor board and tried to get a pair of vice grips on the nut....no can do. The springs weren't in great shape, so I pulled the seat covers off very carefully.

I remember hearing that the passenger and driver springs are the same, correct? Don't mean to threadjack.

Yes........spring only, and that same spring will work in 116,123,126

Bottom spring only, will not work in the CD's

I only need the seat covers. I have had REALLY bad luck removing the cardboard like edge that holds the seat cover onto the groove. I always break the #$$&@! thing into pieces.

I have seat covers on both my current seats-which have been restuffed with "pool noodles" and are good. However I would love to have "Nice" front seats in the MB.

I wish the U-Pull-It allowed cutters/grinders I would dremel that seat out in a few minutes

If you can bring in a drill... hide a cutting wheel and 'drill' that sucker out

Or if you can drill a hole in the floor you can get a pair of tin snips and cut out the floor like John said.

I seem to remember the back bolts go through a little flange that is spot-welded to the floor boards. That way the hole doesn't penetrate the floor itself. I'm not sure how easy it would be to cut this flange or break the spot weld with a cold chisel, but that's a possibility if you can get to the area.

You cannot let this beat you! Good set of cold chisels, glasses, and a big hammer will do the job right.
