Transmission Cooler
I searched, but the threads I found were so old that the photos were gone
I want to use my old AC condenser as a transmission cooler, but I'm not sure which side of the lines I should tap into. Relative to the engine, is the hot/sending line on the injection pump side or the turbo side? Yes I will install a gauge to monitor temperature and take photos

I am not sure that the tube diameter in your old condenser is large enough to allow normal fluid flow.If the tube diameter is smaller than the metal lines to the original transmission heat exchanger in the radiator your trans may be unhappy with the reduction in flow.Just a thought! Don

Good point. They look to be similiar, I'll measure tomorrow. If not, I have a 3/8 tube transmission cooler that would fit in place of the condenser too.

personally, I think the increased rate of cooling will outweigh any decrease in volumetric flow. A temp guage is probably unnecessary.. except to quell the non-believers.
Why are you concerned with the flow pattern through the condenser? Clever mod, I like it. |

The gauge is already installed-An electronic temperature gauge&sender that was part of an experimental exhaust gas heated SVO setup that went awry. Now The gauge just sits there wanting to read something
