606 Turbo Removal

I have a copy of WIS but it doesn't want to play nice with Vista. I am trying to R&R the turbo since I it is shot and I have a new one coming from PeachParts.

Anyone have any hints? From what I see, there are the oil lines going in and out of it, the clamp holding it to the downpipe and air hose going into the intercooler and 3 bolts. Anyone have helpful advice, handy expletives, beer, etc, etc to help the process?

This is for a 99 E300 Turbodiesel

TIA

I have already bought one from Peachparts and I kinda need the car ASAP. It is our daily driver. Doing 30 mpg on a 160 trip each day, I need all the mpg I can get. The next thing I have is the Vette which gets about 18 on a good day.

That is why I am looking for advice on how to remove it since I have to do it tonight.

To rebuild, you must first remove.

I've had mine off and it's not too hard.

The spring clamp attaching the turbo outlet to the down pipe is a biatch to re-connect. You have to squeeze it with a big pair of channel locks and slip the tab back into the slot at the same time.

The turbo oil supply line MUST be removed or at least loosened prior to turbo removal. There's no way around it.

One of the turbo mounting bolts and the oil return line unbolt from the bottom, under the car.
