Pictures! My new project 1973 220d
Notice the thin bumpers and unribbed tailights!
Currently non-running but hopefully she should be purring a couple of weekends. Slight fender rust but nothing major. I'll keep y'all posted on the project! |

Looks like a fun project, needs an extra pedal though.
What are your plans with it? |

Sorry I should have clarified; are you going to drive it as-is or are you going to restore it? I think it'd be pretty neat as-is, it has some nice patina going.

i'm going to fix it just enough to be roadworthy and use it as a commuter.
not much beyond that. |

Nice. A good buff up and polish should work wonders for it. I hope you get that rust taken care of. It's still quite minor and the car will look a huge lot better without it. Nice vehicle.

i have to get the motor running first. it shouldn't take more than a new battery, new belts, fuel filters, oil and oil filter. I also have to fix the coolant leak somewhere too. What do you guys suggest about the old fuel in the tank? is there a way to drain it easily or should i just fill the tank with good fuel and dilute the bad fuel away? |

when i picked up my 75 300d it had about 3/4 tank of some very yellow almost orange diesel but it did start right up with it i filled it up and went for a drive after about 5 fill-ups my diesel was normal color again changed the in line filter twice in that time and return one time once it was all flushed back to normal color......im jealous of your bumpers, but i do agree with alfa your missing a pedal there at the floor if you want that car to move out of its own way...

I see you have started working under the dash. Congratulations! You have the last year model allowed in the US with the original bumpers.
How long has it been sitting? That will tell you if the tank needs to be drained or not. You must consider not just the tank, but filters as well. I suggest taking the belt off the compressor before starting - just in case the compressor/idle pully are frozen.

The 220D i bought is identical in color, but it has the MT and no AC, which is ok, tho I am thinking of learning AC and putting a bolt-on unit, a simple one, oin several cars.
