Not starting. Fuel issue?
I pulled my 81 300SD into the garage this weekend to take care of a laundry list Ive been meaning to get to. One issue it was having was intemittently slowing down on the freeway. I chalked this up to clogged filter(s) So I replaced those. I also tightened some belts and checked the glow pugs by taking the wires off and checking resistance. Did some other stuff but they don't relate to my problem. OK so when all was said and done I prime the system with the primer pump and get in to start it up . It sputters a bit but does not run I continue to try and it just does not want to go. After many attempts I unplug the glow plugs and squirt some starting fluid up in there. This only slows down the cranking and does not show any signs of wanting to start. Today I went out there and loosened the banjo bolt at the IP and let my electric pump ( I put in the trunk) push the fuel through. it comes through fine. But still no starting. Today it doesn't even chug or sputter, just turns. Battery is strong. Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to get everything. Please help!!
